February 2015 www.linak.com NEWS@LINAK LINAK Headquarters - Beside being a professional and well organised collaborator, LINAK has also been surprisingly positive towards very experimental sketches and concepts, and that gives a great working environment. Furthermore, the project and the collaboration has given me an option to take a fun and creative project a step further, than I normally do, before its sales potential has to be considered, says the Danish designer Philip Bro, who has designed the Green Kitchen. holm Furniture Fair can create a breeding ground for new design collaborations, and especially that the designers themselves are open to using LINAK products in new ways; - At an exhibition like this, we can’t showcase our products directly, and that can be challenging. In my eyes, Stockholm Furniture Fair is therefore an excellent opportunity for us to display a range of exciting and innovative design collaborations, which show LINAK’s products used in different solutions, and in new ways, says Anne Willemoes. The body is our most important engine Once again LINAK is serving home cooked and healthy food on the stand, as Runa Eriksen, who works as a chef at LINAK Danmark A/S, is cooking in Philip Bro’s Green Kitchen. Beside her education as chef, Runa Eriksen is also a trained dietician. It is therefore self-evident that she has great focus on health in her cooking; - I value an optimum composition in the food, so I always consider the good fats, carbohydrates, and proteins, she says and continues; - To me it is evident that a company as LINAK, who produces actuators to relieve physical pressures in so many areas, also thinks health into their concept through diet. The most important engine for a healthy life will always be our own body, that is also why it matters, what we offer it in order for us to function optimally. Runa joined the stand for the first time in 2012, and since then she has been a solid part of the considerations, when planning the stand. Runa also thinks that it is an amazing way of contributing to the healthy expression of the stand; - It is a fun and different experience to join the exhibition, and I think that it is great that many of our visitors notice that we have chosen to focus on healthy food. The food is very well received, and it is wonderful to give the visitors a good tasting experience, whilst they are looking around our stand, she says in closing. Flexible and unique solutions wrapped in Scandinavian design This year it is the fifth time that the Danish actuator manufacturer will be at Stockholm Furniture Fair, and the visitors can once again expect to see a range of exciting design collaborations. The stand is built with a focus on flexibility, environment, health and ergonomics, which is expressed in the furniture on the stand as well as the food served on the stand. stand up during the day, says Anne Willemoes, Marketing Manager at LINAK Danmark A/S, and one of the creators of the stand. Furthermore, LINAK has a green, eco-friendly line on the stand in order to meet the company’s value of focusing on reducing energy consumption, and to produce solutions that affect the environment the least; - I like the thought of us taking the environment into consideration in everything we do. As an example we have chosen to minimise the amount of handouts to one folder, and we serve our food on tableware made of bamboo. The solutions we show have also taken the environment into thought in their designs, which among others is expressed by the designers general, sustainable choice of material, says Anne Willemoes. Design collaborations with room for innovation The bed cabinet from the award winning Swedish Asante Arkitektur & Design AB is manufactured in collaboration with the Swedish furniture company Livingood. The two designers behind the bed cabinet, Carolina Wikström and Frida Öster, are very satisfied with the result, and the way the collaboration has taken place; - The functional demands have been the motive force in the design process, which has lead to creative ideas on, what a bed cabinet can be, and which other functions beside a bed that can be integrated into such furniture. We have created an urban and flexible furniture, they say and continue; - It has been fun working with LINAK, who is extremely solution oriented, modern and forwardthinking. We have been met with an “everything is possible” attitude, which has pushed the project forward in a positive direction. We most definitely see great possibilities in integrating LINAK products in our designs in the future, they say. The Danish designer Philip Bro, who is behind the design of Green Kitchen also thinks that it has been a pleasure working with LINAK, among others due to the flexibility he experienced in the design process. He was given the task to integrate LINAK’s Baselift solution in the kitchen; a solution that is originally thought to fit in the base of kitchens. When Philip Bro chose to make the kitchen mobile, he had to think in new ways, which meant that the Baselift was placed in the table tops. This alternative use of the product was however not seen as a problem for LINAK; At LINAK it is also highly appreciated that Stock- The design of the stand for Stockholm Furniture Fair 2015 has been in the pipeline for a long time. This year LINAK has chosen an urban platform to frame the four design collaborations found on the stand. All four design collaborations hope to introduce more ergonomics into everyday life, without compromising the aesthetic appearance. It has been important for the Danish actuator manufacturer to show the flexibility that is reached by integrating movement into the design of furniture; - The kitchen is flexible in terms of the height adjustable table tops but also in terms of the individual modules being moveable. The bench set can be put up or down, which gives new possibilities to a long line of rooms, and the same for the bed cabinet from Asante. The office desk from Brdr.
